In reply to <a href="https://www.pokertraining.com/poker/blog/lessons-bad-play/#comment-2769">Josh</a>.

I was counting on you all for the lessons/insight!

Mostly I think what extends from my bullets: be observant for subtle forms of tilt and accept growing pains of trying to improve and not fall back on bad habits. The last one with the type of player I struggle with is more a call to try to figure out what in my game does not do well against this type of player.

What I also did not address fully was how I should have really thought through the equity situation more fully in the hand that tilted me. With only needing 20% equity to profit long-term, should have likely been an auto call. I just convince myself he had an ace. Every once in awhile I need to slow down a bit and put the full picture together rather than get stuck on a single aspect.

Of course last time in a similar situation, I called and the guy had the case 7 for quads in the turn (three 7s on the board)! Luckily I one outed the river for quad jacks!

When I was in college I thought a lot about thought, what it is, how are memories formed, the mind body cosmic connection,
A fellow student once said, Herb, you're the only person I know who sets up at night, thinking about thinking.

Paul, are you confessing to setting up at night, thinking about thinking?

I don't know how to willfully tone out the overthinking and turn on the gut or instincts .

Maybe eating raw steak and drinking beer so fast it over flows and runs down our chest, while howling at the moon may help.

Geez.... I relate to ... so much of you you recounted!!

What I want to know/understand is, "So... Yeah!!... So.. What do I do, in those instances....??"

I didn't quite take away a "Lessons learned" out of that.

What was the take-away (nugget)? (I'll re-read the post - but .. I need such lessons SLAPPED up against my forehead, evidently!)
