You have probably already seen the biggest pot in High Stakes Poker <\/em>history. Texas Mike fired in $1.6 million with ten-high and put Eric Wasserson in a very uncomfortable spot, where he made the right call and won the pot of $4,260,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s easy to look at the hand and think Texas Mike was going crazy, but we\u2019re going to look at the hand from a theoretical aspect and also what was happening in-game, because in live cash games at these stakes, a lot of theory goes out the window. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you watch a lot of high-stakes poker, specifically cash games, a lot of the wild lines you see taken are due to players having significant history and reads on each other. It\u2019s why it is so interesting to catch streams like this, where you are watching a new level of metagame within poker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole week of the cash games was exceptional content. High Stakes Poker<\/em> had gone over 20 years without filming a pot of bigger than $2.4 million, so to break that record twice within days shows you how good the poker entertainment was. The show wrapped up with over $10 million on the table, and it was all truly in play. <\/p>\n\n\n

The record-breaking cash game action<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Blinds were $500\/$1,000 with a $5,000 big blind ante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wasserson opened the button to $20,000 with A\u2666\ufe0f9\u2665\ufe0f, Texas Mike called in the small blind, and Andrew Robl three-bet from the big blind to $110,000 with J\u2666\ufe0fT\u2666\ufe0f. Wasserson four-bet to $280,000, Texas Mike got out, and Robl called to take $599,000 to the flop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9<\/strong>\u2666\ufe0f7\u2660\ufe0f4\u2660\ufe0f<\/strong> gave Wasserson top pair, top kicker. Both checked. The 3<\/strong>\u2666\ufe0f turn handed Robl a flush draw and a gutshot, and when Wasserson bet $200,000 he check-jammed, putting his opponent’s remaining stack of around $740,000 at risk. Wasserson stalled, asked whether he could see one of Robl’s cards, and called anyway. They ran the river twice. Robl bricked both, went and poured himself a large glass of red, and finished the night down $669,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The record stood for two days.<\/p>\n\n\n

The $4.26 million bluff<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Monday’s finale, with the blinds up at $2,000\/$4,000 and a $20,000 big blind ante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wasserson opened to $20,000 with 9\u2666\ufe0f7\u2666\ufe0f. Texas Mike 3-bet to $80,000 on the button with T\u2663\ufe0f7\u2663\ufe0f. The table folded out and Wasserson called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flop: 9\u2663\ufe0f K<\/strong>\u2666\ufe0f A<\/strong>\u2666\ufe0f.<\/strong> Wasserson picked up bottom pair and a flush draw. Texas Mike had ten-high with a few backdoor draws. Wasserson checked, Texas Mike bet $100,000, Wasserson called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turn: 4\u2665\ufe0f.<\/strong> A complete blank. Wasserson checked again, Texas Mike fired $330,000, and Wasserson called again. Texas Mike was now drawing to somewhere around 5% equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

River: 5<\/strong>\u2666\ufe0f.<\/strong> Wasserson’s flush got there. He checked for the third time. Texas Mike overbet all-in for roughly $1.6 million into a pot of $1,046,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wasserson went into the tank for two minutes, thinking out loud about whether he could get away from it. Then he called, and Texas Mike tabled the ten-high. Pot: $4,260,000<\/strong>. The biggest in the show’s history by nearly $1.8 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
