Jacksonville’s “Local Legend” Joins the APT Team: Meet Eddy Mroczkowski

Spread the word and share this article

In every poker community, there are a handful of players whose names carry weight the moment they walk into the room. Not because they’re loud. Not because they chase attention. But because they’ve quietly put in the work, earned respect over years at the tables, and become part of the fabric of the local poker scene.

In Jacksonville, that player is Edward “Eddy” Mroczkowski.

At 42 years old, Eddy has built a reputation as one of the most accomplished and recognizable tournament players to come through Bestbet Jacksonville. A husband, father of two, longtime grinder, commentator, and student of the game, Eddy represents exactly what the modern poker player looks like: disciplined, analytical, competitive, and endlessly curious.

Now, he’ll be bringing that experience and perspective to the Advanced Poker Training team as part of the Champion Maker Seminar.

From Home Games to High-Level Tournament Poker

Like many players, Eddy’s poker story started casually.

He played home cash games for fun until he found out his girlfriend was pregnant with their son. At that point, poker became something he approached more seriously. He began studying the game, buying books, and working to improve his understanding of strategy.

When Bestbet Jacksonville opened in 2012, Eddy quickly found his way into tournaments. Early success around the property helped establish his reputation, and before long he had become known primarily as a tournament player — something he admits he initially resisted because he saw himself as more of a cash-game player.

Over time, though, tournaments became his main focus, and the results followed.

Today, Eddy ranks #1 all-time at Bestbet Jacksonville in total tournament cashes.

That number tells part of the story. But in Jacksonville poker circles, Eddy’s reputation goes beyond tournament results.

He’s respected because he’s lived every phase of the poker journey — from recreational player to serious student of the game, from local grinder to consistent tournament threat.

A Student of the Modern Game

While many longtime players stick to the style of poker they originally learned, Eddy embraced the game’s evolution.

A few years ago, he began working with poker solvers and modern game theory tools, which opened an entirely new perspective on strategy and decision-making. These days, he says he often enjoys studying poker as much as actually playing it.

That mindset is one of the reasons Eddy is such a natural fit for the Champion Maker Seminar.

He understands what it means to evolve as a player.

He understands what modern poker demands.

And perhaps most importantly, he understands how difficult it can be for players to bridge the gap between recreational play and truly structured improvement.

Today, Eddy spends much of his time grinding online tournaments while still regularly competing in the major live events at Bestbet Jacksonville. Every summer, he also travels to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker and surrounding tournament series.

But despite the travel and online volume, Jacksonville remains home — and Bestbet remains the place where his poker identity was built.

The Voice of Bestbet Live

Many players know Eddy not only from the tournament tables, but also from the commentary booth.

Years ago, Bestbet held a commentary contest that gave winners an opportunity to spend time on the Bestbet Live stream. Eddy won the contest, stepped into the booth, and quickly became a regular part of the broadcast team.

Since then, he has become one of the familiar voices behind Bestbet Live, helping break down hands, explain strategy, and bring personality and insight to the stream.

The role fits him naturally. His calm demeanor, deep strategic understanding, and ability to explain complicated concepts in an approachable way have made him a favorite among viewers and players alike.

Why Eddy Fits the Champion Maker Seminar

The Champion Maker Seminar isn’t about pretending poker success happens overnight.

It’s about learning from players who have actually put in the work.

Players who have adapted.

Players who understand both the technical and mental sides of the game.

That’s exactly what Eddy brings to the table.

He has experienced the evolution of poker firsthand — from old-school live reads and instinct-driven decision-making to solver work, range construction, population tendencies, and modern tournament theory.

What makes him especially valuable, though, is his ability to communicate those ideas in a relatable way.

He understands what it feels like to start from scratch.

He understands the challenge of balancing poker with family life.

And, he understands the swings, the discipline, and the patience required to improve.

For players attending the seminar, Eddy won’t simply be another accomplished player on stage. He’ll be someone who genuinely understands the path they’re trying to navigate.

More Than Results

Poker communities don’t create “local legends” solely because of rankings or tournament cashes.

Those things matter, of course.

But what truly earns long-term respect is consistency, professionalism, longevity, and helping grow the local poker scene.

That’s why Eddy Mroczkowski has become such a respected figure in Jacksonville poker.

And that’s why we’re excited to have him join the Advanced Poker Training team and be featured at the Champion Maker Seminar.

Whether players know him from the tournament tables, the Bestbet Live commentary booth, or simply by reputation, one thing is clear:

Eddy has earned his place as one of Jacksonville poker’s true local legends.
